Issues

As a candidate, I have received MANY surveys and questionnaires from various people and organizations. Below are some of those questions (organized by topic) and my responses. As issues change and more information becomes available on these topics, I will be editing and adding to my responses.

If you would like to ask a question, please SEND ME AN EMAIL and I will gladly respond to you and may post your question and my response here as well.

Thank you for your time!

More About the Issues- A Conversation with Adam Sovkoplas (Indivisible NKY)

Voting Rights

I believe that every US Citizen has the right to vote and the responsibility to participate in the democratic process as outlined by the US Citizenship and Immigration Services. I believe it is important to protect that right and more important to ensure that all voters are able to fulfill their responsibilities.

Gun Violence

I do not believe that our founding fathers intended for us to use our second amendment rights as an excuse to stand by and do nothing as American citizens take up arms against our brothers, sisters, teachers, ministers, and children. The mass shootings must stop. According to the Gun Violence Archive, there have been more than 300 mass shootings every year for the last 3 years. There have already been 34 in the first seven weeks of 2018.

Kentucky Pensions

Shifting the burden of our state government's inability to prioritize, manage, and properly fund the pension program onto the shoulders of the hard working men and women who have been contributing to their retirement for decades is not the answer.

Immigration

We need to stop avoiding the issue of immigration reform, work with the immigrants already in the country (whether legal or illegal), and find a solution to preventing illegal immigration.

Energy

As an Eagle Scout, I place very high importance on our environment and the conservative use of our resources. Investing in clean energy is investing in our future. Coal can't keep the lights on forever and is not worth the damage caused to our air and water or the health of our mining community.
